Planning a production.

Yes, 2018, Term 3 and once again we have rolled around to a production year (every even year since 2004).
I am the producer, and also write all our productions. Every child in the school is in the production from Year 0 -Year 6.
We are lucky to be able to use Gisborne's War Memorial theatre. Since 2004 we had performed at the Lawson Field Theatre which is more of a theatre in the round so writing and performing in a theatre with full curtains etc requires a different style or over view from a writing point of view.

In 2016 Makauri School performed Musicality. This was a parody on music, notes and mischief.

So what were we going to do this year?
 Earlier in the year I had shared the story Tangaroa's Gift with some of the classes and this combined with the song This is me from The Greatest Showman sparked off the idea of the theme being Bullying Because someone is different. From this our 2018 production was born.

"Glorious!" is the result.

My next blog will share how this idea was shared with firstly the teachers and then the students as there buy in in my top priority.

A further blog will look at planning. How do we link this in with our needs in learning and our curriculum coverage.
